***All players MUST register and pay the tryout fee online***
All players must attend a tryout. If you are unable to attend your team's designated tryout, you can attend either the Dallas, North, or Make-up tryout. On your registration, please specify which team you are trying out for (Dallas or North), and which dates you will be attending tryouts. If you are unable to make all tryout dates, register online and email email@example.com to arrange a tryout session.
You will find out if you have made the team after all tryouts have concluded. You will need to accept your position on the team by August 12th. We will then have our teams finalized.
Sentry Lacrosse is now offering a North Texas Lacrosse program year round for players K-8th grade. ALL SCHOOLS WELCOME!
The goal of Sentry North Texas is to grow Sentry and expand into new areas, while still providing the best product around without forgoing any of the amazing benefits we already currently provide, including our great coaching staff. Sentry Dallas and Sentry North Texas will have two completely different "A" teams, at each age level, that will receive the same benefits (great coaches, number of practices, tournaments, skill sessions, 3 on 3 Box Lacrosse, Wall Ball). The Idea is to create two of the best teams we can in each area to scrimmage as much as we can at the NEW SENTRY COMPLEX in Allen.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?: Please help spread the word to families within your community. We have great coaches at each age level that are willing to go the extra mile to provide a great product in the North Texas area.
Tryouts: What team should you tryout for? It does not matter where you live, choose your team simply based off your preference. Players are welcome to try out for both teams however, they will have to pick which team they will play for by August 21, 2016. If you cannot make the tryout date for your specific location of choice, players can attend the opposite tryout date/time to be evaluated for the preferred team.
Facilities "THE HILL": We are the FIRST select program in the history of Texas lacrosse to have our own 10 acre facility! We are extremely excited about this! Our new fields/facility is in Allen, Texas. In addition, we will be able to use indoor fields in Frisco and Mckinney. This is a big stepping stone for us and will allow us to expedite a player's learning curve without the headache of not knowing where practice will be.
When and where will practices take place? Practice will be in Allen Texas: (The Hill: 2190 W. Lucas Rd. Allen, TX 75002) To start off, practices will be every Sunday in Allen Texas. (K-2nd 12:30-2:00) This will help avoid most school, church, and sports conflicts. *Please note that we will not lock down the full practice schedule until after tryouts. Once Teams are formed, coaches will email families to figure out what dates, and times work best for the majority of the group. We try our best to be flexible and avoid as many conflicts as possible for each individual team so we can create a good atmosphere at practice.
How will teams be broken down? The goal is to have a team at each age level (Kindergarten) (1st) (2nd) (3rd) (4th) (5th) (6th) In the event we get lower than expected numbers we will merge the grades together (K-2) (3/4)(5/6).
How many practices are expected? (Varies by grade) 40- 50 Practices. August- December: we understand September is a very busy time of the year with school starting and football so we plan on starting off with 1 practice a week for the 1st couple of weeks. Once we have a better understanding of everyone schedule and football comes to an end we will go 2 times a week. January is a month we have most of our Specialty camps so we have very little to no practices. February- April: Players should play for their school teams however, we will host "Skill" practices every Sunday to avoid as many conflicts as possible. May- July: 2-3 Practices a week until the last tournament of the season. *Please keep in mind that if we feel a team needs more practice or needs a break we will make adjustments where we see fit.
Should your son play for school team? YES! We want all players to support their school teams. One of Sentry team rules is that players must attend their school practices and games over any Sentry event. Sentry Lacrosse is not a school program, we are a select program that offers additional Lacrosse outside of School lacrosse.
What If your son already plays for a Sentry Dallas team?: We encourage all families to stay on the Sentry Dallas teams, unless the drive is a significant inconvenience. We are extremely proud of the Dallas teams we have built and we want to keep the core players and team camaraderie together. *If you live north of Dallas, this is a great opportunity for players to play on the Sentry Dallas team, and receive extra practices with the Sentry North Texas teams, as described below.
Practice Benefits: Regardless of what team you are on, "Sentry Dallas" or "Sentry North Texas”, if you have a conflict that does not allow you to make your team practice, players are more than welcome to attend a Sentry Dallas or Sentry North Texas practice. We encourage all players to attend their team practices within their location as much as possible however, if it fits your schedule and you want more practices, players are more than welcome at practices regardless of the location. In addition, having two separate Sentry teams in each grade will allow the opportunity to scrimmage each other as much as we can and create a great atmosphere that will prepare us for national tournaments
Benefits for Local and Travel Tournaments: If you play on the "Sentry Dallas" team or "Sentry North Texas" team, players will be required to play for the team they tried out for and committed to. In the event a Sentry team needs an extra player, and the tournaments do not conflict, we will ask players from the "opposing" Sentry team to fill in, at no additional cost.
Cost/Yearly Fees: *Varies by grade. (Kindergarten- Second grade: Between $499- $1,200) (3rd and up ranges from $2,100 - $2,900)
